SEPTEMBER 27, 2012 — EVANSTON, ILL. — The third annual ‘Paint Evanston Purple’ pep rally will begin tonight at 6 p.m. at the iconic Northwestern University Clock Tower at Clark St. and Orrington St. in downtown Evanston. The Northwestern University "Wildcat" Marching Band will be performing as part of the celebration.
The Evanston Township High School Band, directed by Northwestern alumnus Dr. Dave Fodor (GMu98), will also appear, along with Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, Wildcats head football coach Pat Fitzgerald, and 2012 Northwestern team captains Brian Arnfelt, Kain Colter, Brian Mulroe and David Nwabuisi.
This event continues an ongoing annual collaboration between the city and the university, and culiminates this weekend on ‘Evanston Day’ at Ryan Field on Saturday, Sept. 29, as the Wildcats kick off their Big Ten schedule when they host the Indiana Hoosiers. Discounted tickets are available to Evanston residents and District 65 students. Throughout the week Northwestern football players have made appearances at Evanston schools to read to children, and at Wildkits football practices for youngsters.
Northwestern fans that wear purple on Thursday and Saturday will be eligible for discounts and specials from Evanston restaurants and businesses. More information regarding specific offers can be found on the City of Evanston website.
Tonight's pep rally is free and open to all Evanston residents and Northwestern students, staff, alumni, and fans.
