How do I get to Pick-Staiger and Regenstein with the current construction?

A detailed map with directions is available at http://www.pickstaiger.org/construction.

Is there a bus to the field on Saturday afternoon?

Yes! The NUMB bus will be departing from Regenstein at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alums are allowed to park in the lot by Regenstein and take the bus to the field. Alums can then take to bus back south after the game. However, the buses will not be available after the post-game tailgate.

Where do we gather for the parade?

The parade starts on North Campus at Sheridan and Lincoln. The exact parade lineup will be announced closer to Homecoming, but staging will be in the parking lot northwest of SPAC.

Before/after the parade, what do I do with my case?

The band staff truck will be near the loading dock of Norris—just west of the main Pick-Staiger entrance—to load in cases before the parade, and will be parked at the end of the parade route so that you can load instruments back into cases. Since there is limited space in the band truck, we request that only large instruments use the band truck, if possible. If you have a small instrument, please leave your case in your car or with a trusted friend or family member.

What should I wear for the parade?

Purple! Please wear a purple top and your NUMBALUMS baseball cap. If you have a NUMBALUMS jacket, feel free to wear that. If you’re short on purple NUMBALUMS gear, check out our official shop at www.numbalums.org.

Where is the Friday bar night?

Prairie Moon Restaurant, 1502 Sherman Ave., Evanston.

Can I bring guests to the bar night at Prairie Moon?

Yes. Bring as many people as you would like!

Where can I find the NUMBALUMS at Prairie Moon?

Enter through the main entrance, then go to the farthest back room. This room is exclusively reserved for the NUMBALUMS from 9 p.m. to midnight. It is a cash bar. You will also be able to order food.

Can my guests sit with me in the stands?

No. Our space in the stands is extremely tight. Due to these space restrictions, which are out of our control, all guests must purchase their own game tickets and sit in their assigned seats.

Family and friends are invited to sit together in the NUMBALUMS “booster block” at the Homecoming Game. Tickets are $65 each and information can be found at http://go.numbalums.org/2014boosterblock.

I’m a NUMBALUM, but I don’t want to play in the stands. Can I still sit with NUMB?

No. Because of the space restrictions, we request that all able-bodied NUMBALUMS who do not wish to play in the stands buy their own tickets to the game and sit in their assigned seats. You can order your tickets and sit in the NUMBALUMS booster block; learn more at http://go.numbalums.org/2014boosterblock.

I don’t want to march pregame and/or halftime, but I want to play in the stands. Can I do that?

Yes. You can remain in the NUMB section of the stands to observe pregame and/or halftime. Gather with the NUMBALUMS outside of the stadium before pregame to gain entry to the stands.

I want to march pregame and/or halftime, but I want to sit in my regular season seat during the game. How do I get to NUMB at halftime?

Meet us at the 50-yard line on the west (press box) side of the field a few minutes before halftime.

I’m a drumalum—do I get to play in the stands?

Yes! You’ll be invited to play along with select stands tunes that all NUMBALUMS will be playing. We’re leaving the cadences and drum cheers to current NUMB students.

I need a flip folder or a lyre?

That's not really a question. But that's okay, we get you. The following items will be available for purchase (limited quantities) at Friday and Saturday registration: flip folder for $6 (with 5 pages), flue lyre for $10, trombone lyre for $12, sax/clarinet/other lyre for $5. Lyres do not include flip folders.

What should I wear on Saturday?

Purple! Please wear a solid purple top and your NUMBALUMS baseball cap. You can find great choices at our NUMBALUMS Shop at www.numbalums.org.

Will there be alcoholic beverages at the tailgate?

Because of liability issues, the NUMBALUMS organization cannot provide alcoholic beverages. You are welcome to bring your own. In the past, members have generously donated alcoholic beverages to the tailgate for all to share.

I have to leave early. What should I do with my loaned instrument?

Return your instrument to Welsh-Ryan Arena before leaving. Put it near the other NUMB equipment.

Do we still sing the Alma Mater after postgame?

Yes! And in recent years, a new tradition has emerged. All NUMBALUMS are welcome to join NUMB in a circle around the 50-yard line to join in singing the Alma Mater. After that, we’ll host a post-game tailgate in the Ryan Field West Lot.

Can I come to the Sunday meeting?

Yes! All NU Marching and Band alumni are welcome to attend the Sunday meeting. You do not have to be a board member or an active (dues-paying) NUMBALUM to attend, though only active NUMBALUMS may vote at the Annual Meeting.
